The first generation of the Eclipse Cross model was introduced at the end of 2017 (in Slovakia in January 2018) as a sports SUV-coupe bringing energetic rendering, refined Japanese quality, safe and dynamic driving thanks to the 4WD drive and a number of advanced features with the aim of expanding the target market of Mitsubishi Motors with new customers.
Three years later and with the score of a quarter of a million vehicles sold, the new Eclipse Cross PHEV takes over the baton with the potential to appeal to other groups of customers in accordance with their tastes and the most modern social trends.
It was this complex interplay of style, technology and social responsibility that was rewarded with the prestigious "Good Design Award 2020" awarded by the Japan Design Promotion Institute.
In their summary of the results, the organizers said: "The new ECLIPSE CROSS, now even more elegant and refined while maintaining the strengths of the sporty and original character of the previous model ECLIPSE CROSS in the form of an SUV coupe, has been designed to provide customers with a new driving pleasure that is completely different from the previous one. All this while maintaining a pleasant ride, which is symbolized by the addition of the PHEV version and the efficient use of fuel energy.
Award "Good Design Award" is Japan's only comprehensive evaluation and recognition in the field of design using the "G-Mark" (Good Design Product Selection System) system, which originated in 1957.
In the words of the Japan Design Promotion Institute itself: “The Good Design Award is an activity that aims to enrich our lives and society as such through design; The Good Design Award honors all kinds of objects around us, including industrial goods, architecture, software, systems, services, etc. Regardless of whether the object is tangible or intangible, the Good Design Award is an evaluation and appreciation of its quality on the condition that it has been created to fulfill specific ideals or purpose."
